Be patriotic, work for nation’s development, Lagos speaker urges Nigerians

The Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa has enjoined Nigerians to be patriotic and work together for the development of the country.
He made the plea on Wednesday in Lagos in a message to mark eid el-Fitr.
“As Nigerians, regardless of our religious beliefs, we have a country that we aspire to see. We all have to make the country achieve that greatness by being more patriotic and working with the government,” he said.
He also enjoined the citizens to rededicate their lives to God and revive their patriotism for the country for national prosperity.
According to him, citizens must continue to work hard as they build a peaceful, united and prosperous nation.
“In the Lagos State House of Assembly, our pro-people direction has resulted in legislation, motions and resolutions that have brought happiness to the residents of our state; we promise to continue to build on our successes,” he said.
He noted that the eid el-Fitr should not be a time for eating and celebration alone but a day dedicated for thanksgiving to God.
The speaker noted that the celebration should be a period to reflect on the blessings and opportunities that had been granted by God to engage in acts of charity and love for one another.
Mr Obasa congratulated Muslims for the successful conclusion of fasting period.
