Edo Guber: INEC distributes identification tags to 721 journalists

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Edo has begun issuing identification tags to journalists accredited to cover Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
The distribution exercise took place at the state’s secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
The national commissioner and chairman of the information and voter education committee, Sam Olumekun, had said 114 media organisations successfully uploaded the details of 721 personnel to cover the election.
Mr Olumekun noted that the full list, including the number of personnel to be deployed, had been uploaded to the commission’s website and social media platforms for public information.
He assured all accredited groups of unimpeded lawful access to voting and collation locations.
The commissioner appealed to media organisations and observers to abide by their codes of professional ethics and INEC’s regulations and guidelines during the election.
