Edo assembly passes N940 billion 2026 supplementary budget

The Edo House of Assembly, on Monday, passed the 2026 Supplementary Appropriation Bill, amounting to N939.85 billion, presented by Governor Monday Okpebholo.
The passage followed a report presented by Fada Eigbiremonlen (Esan Central), chairman of the House Standing Committee on Appropriation, Budget and Project Monitoring, during the plenary session in Benin.
The House dissolved into the Committee of Supply, where it considered and approved the report.
Lawmakers later reconvened in plenary and approved the budget after considering the committee’s recommendations.
A breakdown of the budget estimates showed that capital expenditure totalled N588.32 billion, while recurrent expenditure amounted to N351.52 billion.
The assembly, thereafter, adjourned sitting until Nov. 9, 2026.
