Delta speaker, Lagos commissioner felicitate Muslims

The speaker of the Delta House of Assembly, Dennis Guwor, has called on the Muslim faithful to offer special prayers for unity, peace and progress of the nation as they mark the end of the Ramadan fast.
This is contained in a message by his chief press secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, on Tuesday in Asaba.
”I wish the Muslim faithful greater joy as they strive to draw closer to Allah and encourage all to pray always for the progress and unity of the country,” he said.
Mr Guwor stressed the need for religious tolerance in the country.
While congratulating the Muslim faithful on the successful end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting, the speaker reminded them that the yearly religious event held great significance in Islam.
Guwor (PDP-Warri South West) commended them for their support of political stability and good governance in the state and Nigeria.
He assured of the commitment of the legislature to partner the executive toward achieving accelerated development in the state.
Similarly, the Lagos commissioner for women’s affairs and poverty alleviation, Cecilia Dada, on Tuesday felicitated Muslims, wishing them a peaceful and joyful Eid-el-Fitr.
Ms Dada, in a statement, also wished Lagos residents a happy celebration.
Ms Dada, who called for peaceful coexistence in Lagos, advised women to “reflect on Ramadan lessons of compassion, unity, mutual respect and the teachings of the holy prophet.”
She also admonished women to remember the most vulnerable and poor among them and expressed hope that the holy season would ensure global peace.
