Court orders man to pay back loan or risk jail term

The Shari’a Court 1 sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, on Wednesday, ordered one Hamisu Ahmad to pay back his N290,000 loan to one Iya Ibrahim or risk jail term.
Judge Yahya Ahmad, in his ruling, ordered the complainant to pay N285,000 for the goods he collected from the defendant and N5,000 to cover her expenses.
According to Ahmad, Shari’a court is one that promotes justice, irrespective of religious affiliations.
He added that both the complainant and the defendant would be given fair hearing.
Earlier, the complainant had prayed the court to intervene in his matter with Ibrahim who gave him red oil worth N285,000 on credit.
He also prayed the court to order the defendant to quit harassing him.
On her part, the defendant said she gave the defendant the palm oil because he promised to pay her back in a week but failed to.
She said, “He was supposed to give me my money on January 16 , I called him severally but he refused to pick; I was surprised to see a court service on January 17.’’
