Community urges Gov. Okpebholo to quicken Edo development following Supreme Court victory

The Gelegele community in the Ovia North-East Local Government of Edo State has congratulated Governor Monday Okpebholo on his Supreme Court victory, urging him to be magnanimous in victory.
In a statement by the community council chairman and secretary, Omaghomi Olu-Derimon and Ayenimibofa Apohi, respectively, the community described the court verdict as a tool for inclusive governance and accelerated development for the state.
“We, the people of the Gelegele community, are thrilled that our votes counted and our voices were heard. Your triumph is a testament to your unwavering dedication, perseverance and vision for Edo State,” the statement read.
The community urged the governor to work across political divides by bridging development gaps, particularly in riverine and alleged marginalised areas like Gelegele.
The Ijaw-speaking community also appealed to the governor to consider the establishment of an Edo Riverine Waterways Agency to align with the Federal Government Ministry of Blue Economy.
“We hope that your leadership will prioritise the needs of all communities, especially those that have suffered years of under-representation and neglect by successive administrations,” the statement added.
