Patrick Korie, managing director of SUNU Health Nigeria LTD, has stressed the need for health insurance for children as Nigeria celebrates Children’s Day.

Mr Korie gave the charge in his message in Lagos on Tuesday to celebrate Nigerian children on the occasion of the 2025 Children’s Day celebration

He noted that it was imperative to prioritise children’s health and well-being, adding that parents have critical roles to play in ensuring the well-being of children.

‘’Wellbeing implies being comfortable, healthy and happy. Health insurance is an avenue to ensure the wellbeing of the child and the entire family.

“Children deserve a healthy start in life, and this can be achieved by ensuring they are covered by a health insurance plan. We are not only safeguarding their future with adequate care but also contributing to the overall well-being of our society.

‘’As a healthcare expert, I understand the importance of access to quality medical care in shaping the future of children,” he said.

The SUNU Health MD highlighted the significance of health insurance in providing families with financial protection against unforeseen medical expenses.

According to him, with active health insurance coverage, parents can rest assured that their children will receive the medical attention they need without breaking the bank. This is particularly crucial for children who are more vulnerable to illnesses and require prompt medical attention.

Mr Korie added that as part of SUNU Health’s commitment to promoting healthcare awareness, the company was dedicated to providing innovative health insurance solutions that cater to the unique needs of families.

He also said that in celebration of Children’s Day, SUNU Health Nigeria Limited had partnered with Cute Kids Haven Foundation for about three years to give children a colourful celebration.

To maintain the momentum, he called on well-meaning Nigerians to contribute to the welfare of vulnerable children by supporting foundations that cater to children’s welfare.

‘’SUNU Health Nigeria Limited remains committed to providing health insurance solutions that support families in achieving their healthcare goals.

‘’As a member of the SUNU Group, which has a presence in 17 African countries, the company has been providing qualitative healthcare for Nigerians since 1998.

‘’SUNU Health is known for putting enrollees at the forefront of its operations, living up to its corporate tagline ‘Humanity is the centre of our initiatives,” he added.
