Bauchi sacks management of Wikki Tourist

Bauchi authorities have sacked the management of Wiki Tourist, the state’s football team.
Government secretary Danjuma Garba informed the club’s chairman Balarabe Yusuf, widely known as Douglas, that the decision followed the earlier dissolution of political officeholders across the state that took effect on May 25, 2023.
Mr Garba said Mr Yusuf should immediately hand over the affairs of Wikki Tourist Football Club to the Ministry of Youth and Sport with immediate effect. New management would be reconstituted at a date to be announced later by the state, according to the August 8 letter.
It was under the sacked management that Wikki Tourist was relegated from the Nigerian Professional Football League, NPFL.
Today’s move was widely hailed by residents as long overdue, with some fans calling on the state to investigate possible misappropriation of resources at the club. Mr Yusuf could not be reached for comments on Friday night.
