Ballon d’Or winner Harry Kane draws blank in Bayern, Dortmund draw

Newly crowned Ballon d’Or winner Harry Kane missed a penalty as Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund settled for a 2-2 draw in their Bundesliga match at the Allianz Arena on Saturday night.
Konrad Laimer opened the scoring for Bayern in the 38th minute to give the defending champions a 1-0 advantage at halftime. Kane, however, had the opportunity to double the lead in the 56th minute from the penalty spot, but his kick went off target.
Four minutes later, Serhou Guirassy restored parity for Dortmund, firing Carney Chukwuemeka’s assist past goalkeeper Jonas Urbig.
Eventually, Dayot Upamecano restored Bayern’s lead in the 66th minute from an assist by Kane, before Fabio Silva stunned the hosts with an 89th-minute equaliser as both sides shared the spoils.
Meanwhile, the two sides remain first and second in the league standings, level on 18 points, with Bayern Munich ahead of their arch-rivals on goal difference.
