Ayra Starr shines at MOBO Awards, wins Best International Act, Best African Act

Nigerian singer-songwriter, Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, otherwise known as Ayra Starr, on Tuesday shone like the star she is, winning the Best International Act and Best African Act at the 2025 MOBO Awards.
The awards which held in Newcastle, United Kingdom and hosted by Indiyah Polack and Eddie Kadi, celebrated Black music and culture with performances from The Nova Twins, Krept and Konan, Odeal, Darkoo, and Bashy, among others.
The “Bad Vibes” crooner joins Wizkid and Burna Boy as the first female Nigerian artiste to win the British award for Best International Act among notable artistes such as Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Megan Thee Stallion, Tems, Asake, and Tyla.
She also clinched the award for Best African Act, defeating musicians such as Asake, BNXN, Ruger, King Promise, OdumoduBlvck, Rema, Shallipopi, Tems, Tyla, and Uncle Waffles.
The 2025 MOBO Awards also recognised other exceptional artistes such as Odeal who received the award for Best Newcomer & Best R&B/soul Act, Central Cee made MOBO history by winning the Best Male Act category for the third consecutive year. Singer and Rapper Darkoo won the category for Best Female Act & Vybz Kartel was honoured with the MOBO Impact Award.

· Best Performance in a TV Show/Film: Jacob Anderson as Louis in Interview With the Vampire.

· Best Gospel Act: Annatoria.
· Best Jazz Act: Ezra Collective.
· Best Producer: Juls.
· Best Caribbean Music Act: Shenseea.
· Best Alternative Music Act: Alt Blk Era.
