Commander of the 17 Brigade Nigerian Army in Katsina State, Brig.-Gen. Babatunde Omopariola, has provided financial and food assistance to 16 widows of fallen soldiers at Natsinta Cantonment.

The gesture, which occurred on Saturday during a durbar at the 17 Brigade Joint Officers’ Mess Natsinta Cantonment, in Katsina, was designed to offer essential relief to the families of the fallen heroes as they navigated life’s challenges.

Mr Omopariola emphasised the significance of honouring the memory of those who served, stating, “There is nothing that can compensate for the loss of your loved ones, who sacrificed their lives for this great nation and humanity.”

He underscored the importance of supporting the families, acknowledging the immense burden they bear.

The commander encouraged the widows to remain resilient, emphasising their capacity to overcome adversity and build meaningful lives.

“This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the living standards of troops and their families within the cantonment.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Awa Mohammed-Ibrahim, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Mr Omopariola for his kindness and for honouring their departed heroes.

She noted that the provisions would alleviate their struggles and inspire them to face life’s challenges with renewed strength.
