Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested three suspected armed robbers terrorising residents of Mararaba.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, in a statement on Sunday, stated that operatives from the Mararaba ‘A’ Division carried out the operation based on credible information after investigation.

Mr Nansel stated that the operatives during the operation arrested, “Salim Hussaini 22, Abdulkadir Musa 20, and Dimas Danja 24 all males of Yelwa road, Aso Pada, Karu LGA of Nasarawa State.”

The command’s spokesperson stated that the trio who confessed to being members of an armed robbery gang terrorising Mararaba and its environs, were found with “one locally fabricated rifle, a knife and criminal charms recovered from them as exhibits.’’

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects had on 02/10/2024 at about 2240hrs, stormed a residential Building Yelwa village road, Aso Pada, to carry out their nefarious activity but met stiff resistance and fled,” he said.

In another development, policemen on Saturday nabbed one of four suspected car thieves in Abuja, during their attempt to sell a stolen vehicle.

He added, “Similarly, on 05/10/2024 at 1400hrs, actionable intelligence at the disposal of police detectives attached to New Karu Area command revealed that one Mohammed Aliyu Abubakar ‘M’ of Mabushi, FCT Abuja and three others were in possession of a Blue Toyota Camry with registration number RBC 980 DA suspected to stolen, and were in search of a buyer.’’

He said the suspects fled when they saw operatives approaching but only one of them was apprehended and the stolen vehicle retrieved.

“Responding swiftly to the intercept, the detectives stormed the location of the criminals who took to flight on sighting the police but luck ran out of the above mentioned suspect; he was arrested and the vehicle recovered to the station,” he said.

According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Umar Nadada, called on the owner of the stolen vehicle to come to the command with proof of ownership to claim the recovered vehicle.
