The absence of a prosecution counsel, E.A. Inegbenoiseon, In a Wuse Magistrates’ Court Zone II on Wednesday stalled the trial of a travel agent, Frank Solomon,  charged with cheating.

The police charged Solomon with criminal breach of trust and cheating.

At the resumed hearing, the defence counsel, Emmanuel Kanwi, said that the matter was for cross-examination of the first witness, but was informed that the prosecution was ill.

He said, “The prosecution counsel said he was on admission at a hospital but did not communicate which hospital nor did he suggest a date for adjournment.’’

The Magistrate, Abubakar Jega, adjourned the matter until July 17 for continuation of trial.

The prosecution alleged that the complainant, Friday Attaboh, reported the matter through a petition to the commissioner of police on April 11,2023.

He alleged that the defendant collected N4.7 million from him to book a flight for him.

He further alleged that the defendant converted the money to his personal use and absconded.

He stated that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 312 and 320 of the Penal Code.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
