Akeredolu was library of ideas, symbol of patriotism: Governor Otu

Governor Bassey Otu has described the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo as a library of ideas and a symbol of patriotism.
A statement by Emmanuel Ogbeche, Mr Otu’s chief press secretary to Otu, on Thursday, said the death of Mr Akeredolu was a great loss.
“The passing of Governor Akeredolu is a great loss to our country as he was a library of ideas, patriotism and equity.
“As a governor and an accomplished legal intellectual, he championed equity, fairness and justice not just for the various sub-nationals that make up our great country but for every Nigerian.
“As saddened as I am and my administration, we take solace in the fact that Akeredolu lived a life of impact and advocacy for the common good. He has left a legacy of exemplary conduct and democratic ideals for all to emulate,” stated the Cross River governor.
Mr Otu had also condoled with the family and friends of the former speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Na’Abba, who recently passed away.
He said the former speaker would be remembered for his courage and commitment to the ideals of democracy and representative governance.
“I extend my deepest condolences to the families of the two deceased and the Governments and peoples of Ondo and Kano states, respectively,” Mr Otu said.
