Again, hoodlums attack policemen in Enugu

Some police officers on “stop and search” duty were attacked Thursday morning in Enugu metropolis.
Police spokesman Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the development to journalists.
“There was an attack on policemen on stop-and-search duty this morning, along Agbani Road, close to Enugu/Port-Harcourt Expressway, by yet-to-be identified hoodlums.
“However, details of the incident are still sketchy.
“The Command’s Tactical/Operational Operatives have been mobilised and are on the trail of the miscreants,” Mr Ndukwe said.
He, however, did not disclose the degree of casualties or whether any officer was killed by the armed hoodlums attack.
Attacks on the police have become rife in the southeastern state recently. Last week, gunmen struck a police checkpoint in Nsukka, killing an officer and setting a patrol van ablaze.
