Osimhen, Ighalo missing as Simon, Salah, Mane make list for CAF Awards 2022

Super Eagles player Moses Simon was listed alongside Mohammed Salah of Egypt and Sadio Mane of Senegal among 30 players for Confederation of African Football Awards 2022.
Victor Osimhen and Odion Ighalo, however, were not listed in CAF’s preliminary 30-man nomination on Thursday, in spite of their impressive performances at club level.

For Napoli, Osimhen made six assists, scored 18 goals in 32 games last season, while Ighalo scored 12 goals in 13 games for Al Hilal, joining them midway through the season from Al Shabab.
Simon will compete for the award against some big African players, Mane, winner of last edition, Salah and Riyad Mahrez of Algeria.
Other nominees on the 30 men list include, Bertrand Traore, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, Karl Toko Ekambi, Vincent Aboubacar and Franck Kessie.
Sebastien Haller, Mohamed ElNeny, Musa Barrow, Naby Keita, Yves Bissouma, Achraf Hakimi, Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly also made the list.
This year’s awards scheduled to hold before the final of the Africa Women Cup of Nations in Morocco, starting and ending on July 2 to July 23 respectively.
