Africa’s Flash Fiction Queen, Tolulope Popoola, out with five new collections after hiatus

United Kingdom-based independent publishing company, Accomplish Press, has announced the much-anticipated return of acclaimed UK-based author, Tolulope Popoola, with five new flash fiction collections.
After a hiatus since her last fiction release in 2018, Ms Popoola, celebrated as Africa’s Flash Fiction Queen, offers another set of compelling, witty, and drama-filled stories bound to captivate readers once again.
A master of fast-paced storytelling, Ms Popoola’s latest books immerse readers in the unpredictable, high-energy world of Lagos, Nigeria, where weddings, banking, taxi driving, running a bakery and corporate hustle are anything but ordinary.
According to a statement by Accomplish Press, the five new titles include “Memoirs of a Serial Best Man;” a hilarious and chaotic deep dive into the life of CJ, a man who has been a best man more times than he can count. From missing wedding rings to surprise proposals and overzealous mothers-in-law, Lagos weddings are full of unpredictable drama, and CJ has seen it all. In this collection of fast-paced stories, readers will laugh, gasp, and wonder how one man can attend many weddings without having his own!
Another is “Memoirs of a Lagos Junior Banker.’’ Life as a young banker in Lagos is not for the faint-hearted. Onome Eferogho, a fresh graduate eager to make a name for herself, soon finds out that her biggest challenges are fraudulent emails, troublesome customers, and a persistent office toaster. Will she survive the chaos of corporate Lagos banking, or will she escape before she loses her sanity?
There is also “Memoirs of a Lagos Taxi Driver.’’After losing his banking job, Ladi thought driving a taxi in Lagos would be an easy hustle. He was wrong. From entitled VIP customers to mysterious late-night passengers, bribe-hungry traffic officers, and unpredictable Lagosians, every ride is an adventure, sometimes hilarious, sometimes dangerous, always dramatic.
“More Adventures of a Lagos Wedding Planner,’’ is also among the new titles by Ms Popoola.Wedding planning in Lagos is a juggling act of excessive proportions. Bisi, the no-nonsense wedding planner, is back, taking readers on another exhilarating journey through the world of demanding brides, controlling in-laws, and weddings that go wrong in spectacular ways. With events ranging from a bride replacing her entire bridal train at the last minute to a mother-in-law faking a heart attack mid-ceremony, this is a must-read for anyone who loves Lagos weddings and their delightful chaos.
The “Memoirs of a Lagos Baker’’ rounds off the collections. Dayo thought leaving her IT career to run a luxury cake business would be sweet and simple. Instead, she found herself knee-deep in buttercream battles, fondant-fuelled madness, and Lagos customers who bring more drama than a Nollywood blockbuster. Whether she’s rescuing wedding cakes from the brink of disaster, dodging fake money at the counter, or unexpectedly finding a little romance between cake orders, Dayo’s journey proves that in Lagos, cake is never just cake.
Ms Popoola has captivated readers with her sharp wit, engaging storytelling, and unique ability to bring Lagos life to the page. Since her last fiction release in 2018, fans have eagerly awaited her return and now, with these five books, their patience has been rewarded.
These new collections mark a bold return to the literary scene for Africa’s Flash Fiction Queen, and Accomplish Press is delighted to bring them to readers worldwide.
All six titles are available for purchase in paperback and ebook format globally via Amazon, Selar, Apple, Kobo, Nook and other major online retailers. Audio versions are planned for release later in the year.
