Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo announced on Tuesday that commuters should expect improved travel options as Edo Line Nigeria Ltd. prepares to begin official operations on June 27, 2025.

During a project inspection tour across Edo South, Mr Okpebholo expressed satisfaction with the progress at the New Edo Line station, confirming the company’s readiness to commence full operations.

“I came to see the progress here at the New Edo Line station. The vehicles are ready, and preparations are almost complete,” he said, stressing the importance of ensuring a smooth start.

Mr Okpebholo highlighted that the Edo Line would boost both inter-city and intra-city mobility, providing residents with a reliable, safe, and efficient public transport alternative.

Oligbe Henshaw, the managing director of the Edo State Transport Authority, confirmed the terminal’s readiness, noting that facilities such as CCTV systems and the control room would be fully operational by the inauguration date.

The governor also inspected other infrastructure projects, including Sapele Road, urging contractors to accelerate work to relieve traffic congestion.

Li Ou Fu, CEO of the CBC Group, pledged to complete the urgent section within two weeks.
