1,000 poultry birds culled in India over avian flu

Authorities in the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand started culling poultry birds on Wednesday following the bird flu outbreak, officials said.
The local government officials sounded an alert after bird flu cases were detected at a state-run poultry farm in Ranchi, the capital city of Jharkhand.
According to officials, the Animal Husbandry Department’s rapid response personnel have culled 920 poultry birds, including 770 ducks, at a poultry farm in the Morabadi area so far.
The personnel also destroyed 4,300 eggs at the poultry farm.
