Zelensky, top U.S. officials discuss additional assistance for Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and U.S. Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin met in Kyiv on Monday to discuss Washington’s assistance for Ukraine.
The presidential press service said the parties discussed defence assistance, strengthening sanctions on Russia, financial support for Ukraine and security guarantees.
A statement on the Ukrainian presidential website said the U.S. had provided $3.4 billion in defence support, the most significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine’s defence capabilities.
While speaking about the financial assistance, Mr Zelensky expressed hope that the U.S. would help Ukraine in the post-conflict recovery and facilitate the access of Ukrainian goods to the U.S. market.
The Ukrainian president also called for more sanctions against Russia while handing an action plan to the American side to strengthen sanctions on the country.
According to media reports, Messrs Blinken and Austin arrived in Kyiv on Sunday.
