Yobe police investigated 454 criminal cases in 2024: Spokesperson

The Yobe State police command said it successfully investigated and prosecuted 454 criminal cases in the state in 2024.
This is contained in a statement by the command’s Spokesman, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, in Damaturu on Wednesday.
According to him,116 other criminal cases and 17 unnatural offences are under investigation.
He said within the period under review, there was a significant decrease in armed robbery, kidnapping, and homicide.
Mr Abdulkarim said a massive reduction was also recorded in minor crimes such as theft, burglary, cheating and farmers/herders conflicts.
The spokesman noted that sexually related offences had also decreased due to strategies implemented by the command to protect women and children.
He expressed satisfaction with the feat recorded by the police in maintaining law and order throughout the state in 2024.
“This commitment is reflected in the Command’s efforts to sustain its successes and build on its achievements in the coming year,” Mr Abdulkarim said.
The spokesman said that the state Commissioner of Police, Garba Ahmed, lauded members of the public for cooperating with the police, urging them to sustain the tempo.
