Xi congratulates Mirziyoyev on reelection as Uzbek president

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his election as Uzbek president.
In his congratulatory message, Xi pointed out that in recent years, China-Uzbekistan relations have been, under their joint guidance, achieved leapfrog development, with cooperation in various fields comprehensively strengthened.
Noting that he highly valued the good working relationship and personal friendship with Mr Mirziyoyev, Mr Xi said he stood ready to work with the Uzbek president to promote the sustained development of China-Uzbekistan.
He said the China-Uzbekistan comprehensive strategic partnership would further energise the building of a China-Uzbekistan community with a shared future.
Mr Mirziyoyev was reelected with 87.1 per cent of the vote on Sunday.
