X-users attack El-Rufai’s son over fresh comment on 2020 gang rape threat

Four years after he got tongues wagging by threatening to gang rape the mother of an X user who called him a daddy’s boy, Bello El-Rufai, a House of Representatives member ad son of a former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-rufai, justified his threat, saying it was show of superiority.
In 2020, Mr El-rufai’s controversial private message in which he threatened to gang rape the mother of an X user, @thanos_zer, sparked widespread criticisms after it was made public.
“Tell your mother I’m passing her to my friends tonight,” Mr El-rufai told @thanos_zer in the private message, adding an ethnic slur,
“No Igbo sounds please!”
Though Mr El-rufai withdrew the statement apologising to @thanos_zer, after he came under heavy criticisms, he doubled down on his statement during an interview on “Mic On,” a podcast anchored by political analyst, Seun Okinbaloye.
Asked about his controversial threat to “gang rape” in 2020, Mr El-rufai said he made the threat to exert superiority over @thanos_zer, who called him a daddy’s boy.
“What I meant was I can ask his mother out. I can date his mother. It is like a level thing. He thinks he is bad. I can date his mother,” Mr El-rufai said.
Boasting that he is rich enough to carry out his threat of raping someone’s mother, Mr El-rufai proceeded to asking his interviewer, “are you sure I can’t? Have you seen my car?.”
There have been campaigns against rape and other gender-based violence in Nigeria.
Mr El-rufai’s statement did not sit well with some X users, who berated him for his perceived arrogance.
@AbBaminu32, an X user, said “This boy is a replica of his father. Arrogance is the birthright.
Another X user, @timdikat, said “Someone should tame this boy. Tell him it’s not a good thing for him to inherit the arrogance of his father.”
Another X user, OgbogoPaul said, “Have you seen my car” my gosh! The North is in trouble. @seunokin you can do better with those you interview. Disgraceful.”
