World Table Tennis wildcard stars set for Lagos tournament

Portugal’s Yu will aim to dominate, while Nigeria’s Fashola hopes for strength from the home crowd.

World Table Tennis (WTT) has announced six wildcard entries featuring players from Nigeria, Portugal, France, and South Korea.

Lagos continues to cement its status as Africa’s table tennis hub, drawing global interest to the WTT Contender Lagos.

The tournament runs from July 22 to 26 at Molade Okoya-Thomas Indoor Hall, Lagos.

Among the wildcards is France’s teenage sensation Rémi Betelu, who reached the semifinals at the 2025 WTT Feeder Havirov.

The young defender is set to shine in Lagos, hoping to defend his way to success.

In the Women’s Singles, South Korea’s Kim Nayeong leads the host wildcard nominees.

Kim, 19, a 2023 WTT Contender Lagos semifinalist, returns aiming to win her first WTT Series title.

She will be joined by Portugal’s Fu Yu and Nigeria’s Aminat Fashola.

Yu will aim to dominate, while Fashola hopes for strength from the home crowd.

In the Men’s Singles, Nigeria’s Samuel Boboye and Taiwo Mati are host wildcard nominees.

They will compete alongside France’s Romain Ruiz, a flick-shot expert known for his dynamic style.

These wildcard entries will add excitement to the already packed lineup.

Lagos is ready for another thrilling WTT Contender series.
