Welder jailed three months for stealing car battery

The Jos Magistrates’ Court, on Friday, sentenced a 43-year-old welder, Solomon John, to three months’ imprisonment for stealing a car battery.
The Magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, summarily sentenced the defendant after he pleaded guilty to theft.
Mr Bokkos gave the convict an option to pay a N20,000 fine.
The magistrate said the punishment would serve as a deterrence to other would-be offenders.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported on March 27 at the Laranto Police Station Jos by Victor Ayuba, the complainant.
