WASA 2024: Guards Brigade rewards outstanding soldiers

The Guards Brigade of the Nigerian Army has rewarded some of its soldiers for their gallantry and outstanding performances in all their activities during the year.
The soldiers were presented with different categories of awards during the elite guards’ West Africa Social Activities on Saturday in Abuja to mark the end-of-the-year activities of the brigade.
The awards categories are Best Soldier of each Sub-Unit in Guards Brigade, Best Soldiers in Guards Brigade Garrison, Overall Best Soldier in Guards Brigade and Best Unit in Guards Brigade.
The winners of the various categories got different prizes. The overall best soldier was given a plot of land within the Guards Brigade’s Area of Responsibility as his prize.
The commander, Adebisi Onasanya, said the troops were highly motivated to continue to discharge their responsibilities effectively.
Mr Onasanya pledged unwavering readiness and loyalty to the troops to continuously do their best to contribute effectively to the security of lives and property in the federal capital territory and its environs.
“We therefore wish to reaffirm our complete loyalty and unwavering commitment to the authorisation of the Armed Forces’ constitutional responsibilities,” he said.
The commander said the brigade recorded several operational successes recorded in Abuja and parts of Nasarawa and Niger.
He said that troops also simultaneously and efficiently coordinated the conduct of all routine and national surveillance targets in the year.
He said WASA 2024 aimed to appreciate the troops and their families by creating an avenue for officers and men to engage in a relaxed atmosphere after a busy year.
