A CCTV video has exposed an armed policeman picking telephones from a shop amidst unrest in Idogun, Ose LGA Ondo.

Seketi Adebowale, the shop owner, posted the viral video on Facebook on Saturday, accusing the armed police officer seen in the video of stealing phones from his shop.

“Please, my bro and sister, help me repost, see what is going on in my community in Idogun Ondo state today 22-03-2025.

“Children and women were beaten, shops were burgled, houses were destroyed by SWAT AKURE ONDO. Over N1m phones were stolen by police from my shop today by Nigerian police,” Mr Adebowale said on Facebook on Saturday.

However, Nigerian police in Ondo have, in a statement shared on their official X page on Saturday, said the video was “misleading” as there is no mobile phone shop in Idogun.

“The attention of the command has been drawn to a video circulating online alleging policemen on quick intervention duty at Idogun of stealing from a phone shop,” the statement said.

It added, “The video is misleading as it has been confirmed by the traditional leader, stakeholders and men on duty that there is no mobile phone shop in Idogun.

“However, we urge anyone with genuine complaints to follow the right channel by submitting a petition to the office.”
