Usyk defeats Fury on split decision to become first undisputed champ in 24 years

Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk defeated Britain’s Tyson ‘Gypsy King’ Fury via a split decision in the undisputed world heavyweight title fight on Sunday.
Fury and Usyk traded punches in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in a 12-round fight.
Usyk handed Fury his first career defeat via a split decision.
Fury and Usyk came into the undisputed world heavyweight title bout with sterling career records.
Since he became professional in 2008, Fury has remained unbeaten, winning 33 fights and drawing just one until Sunday.
With Sunday’s victory, Usyk has remained unbeaten in all 22 fights in his professional career, winning 14 via knockout.
Usyk, 37, holds the World Boxing Council (WBC) world champion, World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Organisation (WBO), International Boxing Federation (IBF) and International Boxing Organisation (IBO) belts.
The last undisputed world heavyweight boxing title fight was held in 1999, with Lennox Lewis beating Evander Holyfield.
Both boxing veterans were at Riyadh to see Fury and Usyk trade punches for the title.
