Usyk defeats Dubois to retain titles in controversial fight

In a controversial fight that left viewers with divided opinions on Saturday, Oleksandr Usyk defeated Daniel Dubois to retain the unified heavyweight titles in Poland.
Victory, this time was not an easy cruise for the defending champion, Usyk, who in the fifth round fell after being hit by a fierce blow by Dubois.
With Luis Pabon calling off Dubois’s brutal shot a “low blow,” Usyk returned into the fight after spending four minutes of the allowed five minutes to win the fight.
Delivering some good shots, the Ukrainian dropped Dubois in the eighth and ninth round to retain his titles, a victory many termed controversial.
Speaking after Wroclaw’s Tarczynski Arena victory, Dubois said he thought he had won the fight in the fifth round after Usyk hit the floor
“I didn’t think that was a low blow. I thought that landed, and I’ve been cheated out of victory tonight,” Dubois said. “But, you know, what else can I say?”
Usyk has remained unbeaten, retaining the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO heavyweight titles.
