Uninvited guest nabbed for stealing N16.1 million liquor at Lagos party

On Tuesday, a 51-year-old man, Abiodun Ilori, who allegedly gatecrashed a party at Lekki and stole liquor worth N16.1 million, was docked in the Sabo-Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court.
Ilori was charged with two counts of conspiracy and theft.
Prosecution counsel Insp Magaji Haruna told the court that Mr Ilori and others at large committed the crime on December 17, 2022, in Jewel Aeda Hall, located at No 105, Hakeem Dickson Link Road, Lekki, Lagos.
Mr Haruna said Mr Ilori and his accomplices allegedly dressed as waiters to get into a party they were not invited to and stole liquor worth 16.1 million, property of Innocent Mbaka.
He stated that Mr Ilori and others stole Glenfiddich, Clase Azul Tequila, Louis Roederer Brut Champagne, Don Julio 1942, Laurent Perrier Demi-Sec, Veuve Clicquot Brut, all worth N16.1 million.
Mr Ilori, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The magistrate, O.Y. Adefope, admitted the defendant to bail of N2 million with two responsible sureties in like sum.
Ms Adefope adjourned the case until February 1 for substantive trial.
