UNILAG appoints Folasade Ogunsola first female vice chancellor
The governing body of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has appointed Prof. Folasade Ogunsola as the first female Vice Chancellor of the institution.
Mrs Ogunsola will succeed the outgoing VC of the 60-year-old institution, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, whose tenure comes to an end on November 11, 2022.
The appointment makes Mrs Ogunsola the 13th vice-chancellor to ever head the institution.
Mrs Ogunsola, 64, clinched the post after beating 10 professors, who were shortlisted and interviewed by The Selection Committee of Governing Council and Senate on Friday.
She once served as the deputy VC of the institution from 2017 to 2021, and was also elected as the acting VC on August 24, 2020 by the university senate.
