UCL: Osimhen reaches new milestone in Napoli’s win; Real overpower Liverpool

Victor Osimhen surpassed the 50 goals milestone as he scored a brace to help Napoli defeat 3-0 Eintracht Frankfurt in the second leg of their Champions League tie on Wednesday night to progress to the quarter-finals.
The former Wolfsburg player opened the scoring for Napoli from a header just before the halftime whistle, which marked his 50th goal for Gli Azzurri, before doubling the lead for the hosts only eight minutes into the second half.
With the goals, it took his season’s goal tally to 23 in 27 matches across all competitions, and he also became the first Napoli player to ever score in both legs of a Champions League knockout game.
Piotr Zielinski sealed the victory for Napoli from the spot with his 64th-minute goal after the Gli Azzurri were awarded a penalty following a foul by Djibril Sow on the goal-scorer himself to reach their first Champions League quarter-finals on a 5-0 aggregate scoreline.
Meanwhile, in the other Wednesday fixture, Karim Benzema scored the only goal as Real Madrid piped Liverpool 1-0 at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium to complete a round of 16 double over a familiar foe.
Having come from behind to thrash Liverpool 5-2 in their first-leg tie at Anfield two weeks ago, the Los Blancos had almost sealed a spot in the last eight and were the favourites coming into the second leg.
Liverpool held them to a goalless draw at halftime until the 78th minute when Benzema squeezed Vinicius Junior’s pass into the net to steal the victory for the hosts. Real cruised into the quarter-finals with a 6-2 aggregate victory.
UEFA will hold the quarter-final and semi-final draws on Friday.
