Two men jailed three years for stealing chickens in Ekiti

The Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday convicted and sentenced two men, Moses Uker, 35, and Monday Gambo, 32, to three years’ imprisonment for stealing chickens.
The convicts were charged before chief magistrate Abayomi Adeosun on December 5, 2025, with two counts of conspiracy and stealing.
Delivering judgement, the magistrate found them guilty of the two-count charge and convicted them.
The court consequently sentenced them to a term of three years’ imprisonment each, without the option of a fine.
On count one, the court sentenced the convicts to one year’s imprisonment each, while on count two, to three years’ imprisonment.
The court held that the terms of imprisonment shall run concurrently.
The prosecutor, Akinwale Oriyomi, had told the court that the defendants committed the offences on November 19, 2025, in Ado-Ekiti.
He said they conspired to commit the felony of stealing.
According to him, the convicts, who were security guards at a poultry farm, stole 500 chickens valued at N9 million belonging to Falade Solomon.
He said that the offences contravene the provisions of sections 302(1)(a) and 421 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecution called two witnesses and tendered the convict’s statement in evidence.
