Two men – Ahmed Asiri and Tajudeen Ajiwe, on Wednesday appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State for allegedly breaking into a house and stealing goods worth N1.2 million.

The defendants of no fixed address were charged with stealing, burglary and conspiracy.

The prosecutor, E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendants and others still at large, committed the offences from 2018 to 2020 at Egan Ajiwe, Ijoun village, Ota, Ogun.

Mr Adaraloye said that the defendants unlawfully entered a store and stole 80 bags of Cement, water pump machine, 1,800 pieces of blocks and others items valued at N1.2 million.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 390,451 and 561 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo, granted each of the defendants N200,000 bail with one surety each in like sum.

She said that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun State Government.

The case was adjourned until March 13 for further hearing.
