Two men arraigned for stealing trailer tyres

The police on Thursday docked two men before a Badagry Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing six pieces of 315/80/225 Frideric tyres, valued at N678,000.
The defendants- Adewunmi Rasak, 31; and Ibrahim Sulaiman, 24, whose addresses are unknown, are standing trial on a charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuoimose, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on April 23 at 12:49 p.m., at Africa Tyre Village Plaza, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos.
Mr Okuoimose said that the defendants allegedly stole six pieces of 315/80/225 Frideric tyres valued at N678,000 belonging to the complainant, Okafor Chukwuebuka.
The prosecutor said that the defendants entered the complainant’s shop when he was not around and stole the goods.
He said that the defendants were apprehended by some traders in the complex when they were about to escape with the tyres.
According to him, the offence contravenes Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Fadahunsi Adefioye, granted each of the defendants N200,000 bail, with two sureties each in like sum.
Mr Adefioye adjourned the case until May 26, for mention.
