Two drivers arraigned over theft of truck parts worth N2.6 million

Two men, Gabriel Sunday, 40 and Adebiyi Tunde, 39, were brought before a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday for allegedly stealing truck parts worth N2.6 million.
The defendants, both residents of Ungwan Maigero, along Yakowa Way Kaduna, were charged on two counts of criminal conspiracy and stealing.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on February 12 at Television Garage, Kaduna.
Mr Leo said the duo conspired and stole parts from a truck with registration number: T 6588 LA, belonging to the complainant, Richard Moses.
He said the duo stole four tyres, gear box, water pump and brake pad all valued at N2.6 million.
The prosecutor added that they were caught after stealing the items and were handed over to the police
The offence, he said, contravened the penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N250,000 each with two sureties in like sum.
He said the sureties must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and must submit two copies of their recent passport photograph to the court.
Emmanuel adjourned the case until April 4 for hearing.
