Two arrested for attacking soldiers, policemen, torching operational vehicle in Anambra

Two suspects were on Monday, arrested for attacking police and military operatives in Enugwu-Agu Village, Oba Ofemili, Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, on April 13, 2025.
In a statement on Tuesday, spokesperson for the police command, Tochukwu Ikenga, said the attackers also torched a military operational vehicle at a checkpoint in the area.
Mr Ikenga said, “Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu, in a diligent follow-up of investigation over an attack on police and military operatives that recorded the burning of an army operational vehicle in Enugwu-Agu Village, Oba Ofemili, Awka North LGA, at about 9.45 am on June 2, 2025, arrested two suspects positively identified in the disturbing incident.
“The two suspects – Uche Egwu ‘M’ 35 years, and Jindo Onyeka ‘M’ 32 years respectively – confessed their involvement and provided useful information on other persons involved in the act. The disturbing incident occurred on April 13, 2025, where some armed individuals unprovokedly attacked the security operatives and some stakeholders of the community.’’
Describing the attack as a deliberate act to test the will of security agencies and the country, the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, who confirmed that no life was lost in the incident, commended the operatives for managing the situation.
Mr Orutugu stressed the need for collective action to protect those who safeguard the country, urging the operatives to expand the scope of their investigation for the possible arrest of other fleeing suspects.
