Two armed robbers in Ondo sentenced to death by hanging for killing couple

A High Court in Ondo has sentenced Ayuba Idris and Tasur Abubakar to death by hanging for killing a couple in the state.
In 2019, the two convicts were arrested by detectives from the state police command over the killing of Kwaku Kwakye and his wife, Tope Kwakye.
They were immediately charged to court on five counts ranging from conspiracy, armed robbery, and murder.
The couple were murdered in cold blood at their residence in Akure.
Messrs Idris and Abubakar were security guards employed by the deceased.
John Dada, the counsel for the State government had told the court of how the duo robbed and killed the deceased on May 1, 2019, around 8:30 p.m. at Ojomo Akintan Estate, Olufoam in Akure.
He said their offences contravene Sections 6(b),(1,2)(a)&(b),324,319, 319(1) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap11, Volume 14, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
Mr Dada told the court that the convicts were armed with dangerous weapons and killed their victims with motorcycle cables.
Delivering his judgment, Justice Williams Olamide pronounced the two convicts guilty of the offense charged against them by the police.
The judge sentenced them to death by hanging by the neck until they are dead.
