Two 20-year-old suspects, simply identified as Ekene and Stanley, have been arrested for allegedly killing a woman in the bush in the Ukwuani Local Government of Delta State.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, in a statement on Tuesday, said the suspects allegedly strangled and macheted the victim in an attempt to steal her motorcycle.

Mr Edafe wrote, “This is a very sad parade. Young boys, all less than 25yrs all responsible for murder. The two I interviewed in this video are both 20yrs old.In an attempt rob the woman in the bush, they strangled the poor woman and later used machets on her head. One of them couldn’t bear the guilt, he reported to her mother.’’

In a video on his X handle, showing the parade of the suspects, Mr Ekene, said the suspect in his confessional statement said, “When we were there, the woman was working. She sat down eating something. This young boy (his friend, Stanley) used his shirt on the woman’s neck to strangle her, the woman then fell down.”

“Tears started coming from the woman’s eyes. The moment that happened, this guy that was strangling her on the ground, used the cutlass to hit her on her head, blood started flowing,” he stated.

In the video, Mr Edafe, said after the suspects couldn’t find the key of the bike they intended to steal, they left it, as the victim died.

He added that the suspects were allegedly nabbed by vigilantes after Ekene confessed to his mother about the murder, but Stanley denied killing the woman, insisting that it was a mistake.
