Twenty-two teams jostle for 2022 Prudent Energy Handball Cup

The secretary-general of Handball Federation of Nigeria, Mohammed Maigidansanma, says 22 teams will participate in the 2022 Prudent Energy Handball Premier League’s first phase in Abuja.
He disclosed on Sunday that the league’s first phase would hold from May 22 to June 4 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.
“The four teams promoted from the male and female categories of the National Division One League’s 2021 edition held in Edo will join the other 18 teams in the Premier League,” Maigidansanma said. “The four teams as the Owena Kings of Ondo state and Benue Buffaloes of Makurdi in the male category, while Rima Queens of Sokoto and Benue Queens are in the female category.”
The secretary-general said 12 teams would play in the league’s male category, while 10 teams are in the female category.
He then urged all participating teams to hasten up with players’ transfers which began on April 30 and would end on Wednesday.
“We also urge players and their officials to prepare to be good ambassadors of their clubs or states during the competition,” he said
Kano Pillars and Safety Babes are respectively the male and female champions of last year’s edition of the league.
