Former mayor of New York City, Rudy Giuliani, reached an agreement on Thursday with the two Georgia election workers he repeatedly defamed for tampering with the 2020 presidential election.

According to the New York Times, a letter signed by Mr Giuliani, Ruby Freeman and her daughter Shaye Moss in the case said that, once certain conditions were met, it would result “in the conclusion of all litigation.”

Mses Freeman and Moss consented to Mr Giuliani keeping his properties in return for compensation that was not disclosed.

“The past four years have been a living nightmare. We have fought to clear our names, restore our reputations and prove that we did nothing wrong,” the women said in a statement according to the New York Times.

The president-elect’s ex-lawyer was on the verge of losing $148 million in assets.

In a statement on X, Mr Giuliani said he had retained his “New York coop and Florida Condominium” and all his personal belongings.

The New York Times reported that a lawyer for Mr Giuliani, Joseph Cammarata, said outside the courthouse that they had been trying to reach an agreement “over the last 72 hours” and that his client was satisfied with the outcome.

This comes shortly after the former mayor was supposed to testify at the federal court in Lower Manhattan to testify in a trial that will determine if he will keep his property in Florida, but he failed to show up.

He was held in court contempt over failing to hand over his $11 million to the workers who agreed to be a down payment.
