Trump condemns shooting of lawmakers in Minnesota, charges FBI to investigate attacks

American President Donald Trump has condemned the targeted attacks on lawmakers in Minnesota, charging the Federal Bureau of Investigation to fish out the perpetrators and prosecute them.
In a post on Truth Social on Saturday, Mr Trump said, “I have been briefed on the terrible shooting that took place in Minnesota, which appears to be a targeted attack against state lawmakers.”
Mr Trump charged U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and the FBI to investigate and ensure that anyone involved in the shooting is prosecuted.
“Our Attorney General, Pam Bondi, and the FBI are investigating the situation, and they will be prosecuting anyone involved to the fullest extent of the law,” Mr Trump said.
Condemning the shooting, Mr Trump said, “Such horrific violence will not be tolerated in the United States of America. God bless the great people of Minnesota, a truly great place!”
A Democratic state legislator, Melissa Hortman, and her husband, Mark, were assassinated by a shooter on Saturday.
A shooter pretending to be a police officer shot the House speaker and her husband in their home in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. Another Minnesota State senator, John A. Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, were also shot in their home at Champlin.
U.S. authorities launched a manhunt for the shooter shortly after the incidents.
The Minnesota governor, Tim Walz, described the killing of Mrs Hortman and her husband as a “politically motivated assassination.”
