The FCT Police command has confirmed the death of a driver who died after a moving train crashed into their car in Chikakore area of Kubwa, Abuja, Thursday morning.
The victim’s car was seen attempting to cross the rail tracks to the opposite side of the road when the moving train rammed into the car, grounding both the train and car to a wrecking halt, a video on social media showed.
A statement by Josephine Adeh, the command’s spokesperson said police operatives confirmed the driver dead with the assistance of a medical expert at the crime scene.
“Upon receipt of the information Crime scene investigators attached to the Byazin Divisional Police Headquarters drifted swiftly to the scene, took charge of the situation, where the victim was confirmed dead by medical practitioner on ground,” reads the statement from Ms Adeh. “Investigation has commenced by the Rail way division having jurisdiction over the track.”
Existing safety tips, according to Ms Adeh, will again be disseminated to prevent the unfortunate accident from reoccurring.
“Findings and safety tips already existing will be reiterated to ensure a non repeat of incident shortly,” the statement concluded.
