The traditional ruler of Igbogbo, Oba Orimadegun Kasali (the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo), has called for the construction of more inner roads within the Igbogbo community in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

Mr Kasali said such infrastructure would reduce traffic congestion and ease the burden caused by the concentration of heavy-duty trucks on major roads.

The royal father spoke at the Lagos State House of Assembly (LSHA) 10th Constituency Stakeholders’ Meeting, held on Thursday in Ikorodu, Lagos.

The theme of the meeting was “Governance in Action: The Gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

The traditional ruler, who expressed appreciation to Moshood Aro, representing Ikorodu Constituency II in the LSHA, however, noted that his requests should be given urgent attention.

He commended the lawmaker for his inclusive approach to legislation and the facilitation of impactful projects within the constituency.

In his stewardship report, Mr Aro stated that he had empowered 150 constituents — including physically challenged individuals — with ₦100,000 each.

According to Mr Aro, 135 elderly men and women, along with 15 physically challenged persons, are beneficiaries of the fund.

He noted that the impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda was being felt across the three tiers of government, emphasising that such initiatives reflected the dividends of democracy reaching the grassroots.

He said, “If you follow my trajectory, I started with women and young people. I sent 117 of them to vocational school, and 60 of them actually performed very well. We empower them with all the equipment they need. We also did empowerment schemes for our women, where over 4,000 of them benefited. We never did anything for the physically challenged and also for our ageing mothers and fathers. Today, 135 elderly people and 15 physically challenged individuals will be supported. I don’t want to call it empowerment; we are simply supporting them.’’

Earlier at the meeting, Adeseye Ogunlewe urged Mr Aro to facilitate the provision of more computers to public schools in the constituency in preparation for the West African Examination Council (WAEC) exams, which he noted would soon be conducted using computer-based testing (CBT).

Also speaking, a former Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, Kaoli Olusanya, highlighted the shortage of primary schools in the Ibeshe area.

He emphasised that access to quality education should not be a privilege of the wealthy but a right for all.

In response, Mr Aro assured constituents that their requests would be factored into the 2026 state budget.

He emphasised that the purpose of the stakeholders’ meeting was to gather feedback from the public and pledged to facilitate the construction of a new school in Ibeshe once land is made available.
