Top CBN official, wife shot dead at home; child, staff kidnapped

Kehinde Fatinoye, a staff of the Abeokuta branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria, and his wife Bukola Fatinoye, a staff member of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), were brutally killed on Sunday along the Ibara GRA area of Abeokuta.
Mr Fatinoye and his wife were trailed to their house after the new year crossover service by their assailants, who killed them and set ablaze their house, police authorities confirmed to Peoples Gazette.
The victims, burnt beyond recognition, were taken by police officers and first responders to a hospital amidst the wailings of sympathisers at the crime scene.
The deceased’s son and their domestic staff were reported missing after the attack, with family sources saying the killers had kidnapped them.
Speaking to The Gazette, Abimbola Oyeyemi, police spokesperson in Ogun, confirmed the killing and disclosed that a suspect was arrested.
“Investigations are ongoing on the case, and we have a suspect in custody already,” Mr Oyeyemi said.
He added, “The commissioner of police has directed the homicide department and the CID to coordinate the investigation and speedily bring the perpetrators to justice.”
