Tinubu’s policies killed my mother, Rotimi Amaechi alleges

Rotimi Amaechi, a former Rivers State governor, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s policies have killed many people, including his mother.
Mr Amaechi, who is the African Democratic Congress vice-presidential candidate for 2027, made the claim in an interview with Channels TV on Friday.
Lamenting the economic hardship triggered by Mr Tinubu’s subsidy removal policy, Mr Amaechi said, “Where are those funds saved from the removal of subsidy? The purpose of subsidy removal is to better the lives of citizens. But where is the money? I want to feel it. Everybody wants to feel it. I don’t hate Tinubu. He knows I love him. But I disagree with him.”
When asked why he disagreed with Mr Tinubu’s administration, Mr Amaechi said, “Because his policies are killing people. I lost my mother. Many have lost their persons.”
Asked if Mr Tinubu’s policies were responsible for his mother’s death, Mr Amaechi said, “Of course,” adding, “Before Tinubu became president, my mother was healthy. After he became president, it was difficult for me to buy drugs for my mother.”
Bayo Onanuga, spokesperson for Mr Tinubu, did not pick calls seeking a response to Mr Amaechi’s claim. A WhatsApp message sent to him had not been replied to as of the time of filing this report.
In June, Mr Amaechi lost his mother, Mary Amaechi. The mother of the politician died at the age of 89.
