Tinubu’s govt projects N33 trillion in revenue from livestock sector

The Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Maiha, says the livestock sector can add N33 trillion to the economy if well harnessed.
Mr Maiha said this at a meeting of the House of Representatives Committee on Livestock Development on Tuesday in Abuja.
He said Nigerian business people had already indicated interest in going into ranching and dairy farming.
The minister also urged state governments to emulate President Bola Tinubu and create Ministries of Livestock at the sun regional level to coordinate with the centre.
Earlier, the committee chairman, Wale Raji (APC-Lagos), said the transformation of the country’s livestock sector held a lot of opportunities for job and wealth creation.
Mr Raji said the sector could contribute to the country’s economic growth and development.
He said the committee understood the urgency of the ministry’s mandate, hence pledging commitment to partner with the ministry to ensure speedy achievement of target.
Mr Raji said that though the committee was willing to support the ministry, it would not compromise the principles of the legislative oversight function.
