Tinubu condemns Katsina killings; charges security agencies to go after bandits

President Bola Tinubu has condemned the spate of killings in Katsina State, charging security agencies to go after bandits and ensure they are brought to justice.
“I strongly condemn the recent spate of attacks against our citizens in Dutsin-Ma and Kankara local government areas of Katsina State,” Mr Tinubu said in a statement on Tuesday.
Condoling families of Katsina bandits raids, Mr Tinubu said, “I have directed our security agencies to go after the assailants and ensure that they are brought to justice.”
The president added, “These attacks are grisly and sinister, and I emphasise that more will be done to secure our citizens and completely degrade terrorists and other harbingers of death and sorrow in any part of our country.”
In a series of coordinated attacks on communities in Katsina State, bandits in recent times have killed close to 100 people.
Mr Tinubu’s statement comes as Nigerians lamented the spate of killings in Katsina and another part of the country under his watch.
“50 farmers were killed in Katsina, and no one is speaking out. Fifty human beings were murdered for farming on their own land, and there is complete silence,” @whatspapping, an X user, said. “Neither the governor nor the president has deemed it necessary to address these killings.”
Another X user, A_Y_Rafindadi, said, “The silence from the FG, defence ministers, state governors, Arewa elders, and Muslim clerics amidst the brutal slaughtering of farmers in Katsina and the daily atrocities and kidnappings in the north is a disgrace, heartbreaking, and incompetency.
“It seems like northern people’s lives do not matter anymore because it has become a daily routine here in the north, and we have never even heard a soothing word or serious action from the President; why?” the user added.
