President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday approved the appointment of three new executive commissioners at the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, pending their confirmation by the Senate.

They are Bashir Indabawa (North-West), executive commissioner, exploration and acreage management; Enorense Amadasun (South-South); executive commissioner, development and production; and Babajide Fasina (South-West), executive commissioner, economic regulation and strategic planning.

The president also approved the redeployment of Kelechi Ofoegbu (South-East), executive commissioner, corporate services and administration.

The president’s media aide, Ajuri Ngelale, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

Mr Ngelale explained that the step aimed to establish a regulatory framework and culture that comprehensively disincentives errant behaviour and incentivises diligence and rules-based business practice across the industry.
