Third-party Insurance Enforcement: Kogi CP to sanction officers violating motorists’ rights

The Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Miller Dantawaye, has tasked officers and men of the force on discipline, professionalism and respect for human rights in discharge of their duties.
The commissioner gave the charge during a meeting with members of the Management Team, Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and other senior officers in Lokoja.
Mr Dantawaye reminded the senior officers of the Inspector-General of Police’s mandate for officers to conduct enforcement operations with integrity and professionalism, without exploiting the exercise for personal gain.
He said, “Our primary objective as a law enforcement arm is to protect public interest, ensure compliance with traffic laws, and educate road users on their rights and responsibilities regarding vehicle insurance policies. Let me issue a stern warning to you officers against unprofessional conduct, especially harassment during third-party insurance enforcement. You should be sure that any reported abuses would attract severe disciplinary action.’’
He reassured the public of the command’s commitment to fostering a safe, just, and law-abiding society through ethical law enforcement practices.
The meeting also featured a lecture by the State Coordinator of Retail Insured Family, an insurance company on the third-party insurance policy, Addi Abdulfatai.
Mr Abdulfatai commended the IG for his efforts aimed at ensuring strict adherence to the Third-Party Insurance Policy.
